Comment on Facebook A recording made on ...

The clarinettist on Spohr’s concerto was the 15 year old Ian Scott, now principal with the Royal Ballet Sinfonia. His sister June, also on the recording is principal flautist with the Philharmonia.

Might be 1975? Robert MacLeod was leader of PYO. Robert, Ian and Fergus played a Milhaud trio at Festival in Croydon that July. PYO played Crown Imperial.

Looks like I might need to add a few names in here - www.perth-youth-orchestra.org.uk/famous-former-members/

When was the last year at Aberfeldy because I definitely did one camp with junior orchestra there but can’t remember the year

Fantastic! In the mid 70s we were only 30 years since WW2 but organised jazz or even big bands in schools were unheard of. You couldn't even study jazz at college/uni in the UK till about 1990.

Another PYO FP on the Kelvin ensemble committee. Nick Baughan led PYO 2016 to 2018Meet Kelvin No. 6!

"I'm Nick, and I am from Kinross in Scotland. This year I am in charge of the Kelvin website (kelvin-ensemble.co.uk), which involves making sure everyone is able to sign up for auditions, buy tickets online, and see our wonderful performances from previous years!

Iโ€™m about to start my second year of Medicine at UofG and Iโ€™m really looking forward to returning to Kelvin and getting to meet all our new members! I love playing as part of Kelvin because itโ€™s very friendly, social, and you get to play a huge variety of music! It is also such a great way to meet up with people who have similar interests outside your course.

I enjoy listening to a wide range of music, particularly from musicals and films, and my favourite artists would have to include Vampire Weekend, Coldplay, and Billy Joel! Outside of Kelvin, I am really into running and cycling."
