Membership
of the orchestra
Members are selected at auditions held in June each year by Perth and Kinross Council's instrumental tutors. String players are usually expected to have attained Associated Board Grade 5 - in other sections the standards are more demanding.
Ages range from 11-19, with many players remaining in the orchestra for 5-6 years.
Please contact our conductor, Mr Allan Young, for more details.
Soloists
In January/February each year, soloists are auditioned from within the ranks of the orchestra. Competition for a place to play a concerto with the orchestra is always at the highest standard.

Fund raising
The local authority charges a nominal fee for membership of all its central group bands and orchestras. Familes who receive income support will have these fees paid for them, together with their fees for instrumental tuition.
Perth Youth Orchestra, together with the Perth Music Foundation, seeks to support all its young musicians providing additional support to families where transport, fees or the purchase of an instrument may be difficult.
Support through patron subscription, the PYO 200 Club, race nights, wine and whisky tasting evenings and coffee mornings - all help to improve the support we can offer.
Above all - the best support we can offer our young players is to bring our families and friends to the concerts. The orchestra is greatly encouraged by good support at their performances.

Patrons
and Sponsors
PYO is grateful for the support of its many individual and corporate sponsors, both for their financial support and for their regular attendance at concerts and other fund raising events for which they receive advance notice and priority bookings. Patrons also retain voting rights at the orchestra's Annual General Meeting.
All parents are encouraged to support the orchestra by becoming patrons. Patrons can subscribe for a minimum of £10 each per year. Many continue to renew their patronage even after their young musician has left. Indeed we welcome the support of many past members and friends of the orchestra.
If you have not yet become a patron please complete our application form and post it back to us. We would encourage you to pay by standing order/ direct debit and, if you are a tax payer, to sign a Gift Aid declaration.
